Ramakrishna Mission is a worldwide, non-political, non-sectarian spiritual organization based in Kolkata that has been engaged in various forms of humanitarian, social service activities for more than a century. Inspired by the ideals of renunciation and service, the Mission serves millions of men, women and children, without any distinction of caste, religion or race.

Sreemoyee’s family has been involved with Ramakrishna Mission for more than 40 years, and we both care deeply about many areas of work the Mission is focused on, including rural development, welfare, and scholarships for girls and poor families.

The Missionaries of Charity was founded in 1947 by Mother Theresa in Kolkata, India. Their objective is to love and serve the poorest of the poor, both materially and spiritually, not only in the slums, but also all over the world wherever they may be.

The Missionaries of Charity “put our love into action” by:

• Nursing the sick and dying destitute;

• Gathering and teaching the poor and street children;

• Visiting and caring for beggars, leprosy patients and their children;

• Biving shelter to the abandoned and homeless; and

• Caring for the unwanted, the unloved and the lonely.
